Beloved family and friends,
How are you doing? We hope you are doing well. This is a difficult e-mail to write. We were expecting a covenant child, Rachel was in her early pregnancy.
On Wednesday, June 3, we didn’t hear the baby’s heartbeat from the ultrasound. Since then, we were pray even more for the baby whose December or January arrival we had so anxiously anticipated. On Sunday, June 21, 2020, Rachel had a miscarriage, the baby was 13 weeks. The cause of miscarriage is as yet unknown; we will probably never know why.
We have named the baby Dominique Van de Burgt. Dominique means“of the Lord”and he arrived on the Lords Day.
We know this is a very difficult situation. Your sympathy and condolences cards are very welcome. We are making a baby memory book; and we would love to put your card in this very special book for our family. We would cherish any cards, letters or notes you would care to send. We will need your prayers and the Bible verses you would like to share with us; we need your love and hugs sometimes. It is hard to say goodbye to our baby! We are comforted with Gods promises of eternal life with Him! We know Dominique is in a better place! We are grieving now the fact that our beloved baby passed away; and the fact we cannot hold him in our arms. We miss him very much already! We will never forget him. We love him and the Lord loves him even more! And a good friend comforted us when he says: this pregnancy was not in vain.
We also know that you will have a hard time knowing how to act around us for a while, especially those of you who are expecting a child. While this will be hard for us to handle for a little while, we will eventually be all right. In a couple of weeks, you may certainly give us a call to go out for tea or come for a visit. We have a very strong relationship with each other especially because we have the same Saviour and Lord Jesus Christ.
Ryan took sometime off from His work to help me during this recovery time. The girls are doing fine, they are enjoying Papas presence during this week at home. We can see we are different after this difficult experience! Our lives are going to be a little different now. We are thankful for the visit we had with our pastor and elder.
